Welcome to Special Equestrians

Our mission is to provide high quality therapeutic horseback riding and equine assisted activities/therapies to persons with physical, mental, developmental, and emotional disabilities.

Special Equestrians has been providing therapeutic riding lessons to people residing in Jefferson, Shelby and adjacent counties who are diagnosed with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, traumatic injuries, and many other physical and behavioral disorders since 1985.

Special Equestrians is one of only four centers in Alabama recognized as a Premier Accredited Center through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH International). Our program is continually growing through our exceptional riders, committed volunteers, and generous donors. Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope to see you at the stable!
